Fine Line Tattoos in Sydney: What to Expect Before You Book

If you’ve been scrolling through Instagram and falling in love with delicate, detailed tattoos
— you’re not alone. Fine line tattooing has become one of the most sought-after styles in
Sydney, and for good reason. But before you book, there are a few things worth knowing.
What is fine line tattooing?
Fine line tattoos use a single needle (or a very tight grouping of needles) to create thin,
precise linework. The result is something that looks almost like a pencil drawing on skin —
elegant, detailed and subtle. It’s the style behind those intricate botanical pieces, delicate
portraits and minimalist designs you see everywhere right now.
As a fine line specialist based in Haymarket, Sydney, I work almost exclusively in this style. It
suits clients who want something personal and refined — not bold or traditional.

Does fine line mean it will fade faster?
This is the most common question I get, and the answer is: not necessarily — if it’s done
well.
Fine line tattooing requires technical precision. Lines that are too shallow won’t hold. Lines
placed too close together can blur as they heal. An artist who understands needle depth,
skin type and design longevity can create fine line work that ages beautifully.
My background in graphic design means every piece I create is drawn with flow and
placement in mind from the start — not just how it looks on the day, but how it will look in
five or ten years.
What’s the design process like?
When you book with Krink Ink, you’re not choosing from a flash sheet. Every tattoo is
custom. You submit your idea — a concept, a reference image, a feeling — and I create a
design specifically for your body and placement.
Books open monthly, and spots are limited. This isn’t a walk-in studio. It’s a considered
process, and that’s intentional.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Moisturise the area for at least a week before your appointment
Stay hydrated and eat a full meal beforehand
Wear (or bring) clothing that gives easy access to the placement
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your session
Come with a clear mind — this is your piece, take your time deciding on placement
Ready to start?
If you’re based in Sydney — whether that’s the CBD, Surry Hills, Newtown, Glebe or further
afield — I’d love to create something with you. Submit your idea here.
